You can register and start training at the earliest six months before reaching the minimum age. You can take the theory test three months and the practical test one month before your birthday.

For the registration you need:

• a valid identity card or passport
• a biometric passport photo
• an eye test (not older than 2 years)
• proof of a first aid course

For a category B driver’s license, 12 basic lessons and 2 additional class-specific lessons are required – i.e. a total of 14 theory units of 90 minutes each.

The legally prescribed special trips consist of:

• 5 Overland journeys
• 4 Freeway driving
• 3 Night rides
  The number of normal practice hours depends on your individual learning progress.

The first aid course is valid indefinitely as long as it was taken for the driver’s license (9
lessons) (no older than 2 years is recommended).

Yes, you can complete your training in an automatic vehicle. With the B197 regulation, you can also drive manual vehicles later on – without any additional test.

Don’t worry – this can happen. You can repeat the exam after 2 weeks at the earliest. We will provide you with targeted support to help you pass the exam next time.

The ASF seminar consists of 4 group sessions and a driving test. Punctuality is mandatory – even a few minutes late can lead to exclusion. Register in good time as the number of participants is limited.
